What is your current role and background?
I've recently joined Liva Healthcare as its chief commercial officer. It's an exciting time to join the company, which has ambitious international growth plans amongst other in the pharmaceutical and health insurance sectors. Already Liva has kicked off 2020 with 13 new contract wins, including NHS England Shropshire and Dorset CCG’s, several multinational pharmaceutical companies, and a contract extension with the Municipality of Copenhagen. It's big role and I'm looking forward to the challenge.
Previously I headed up commercial partnerships within the obesity franchise at Novo Nordisk, where I developed the strategy for the next generation of digital patient solutions. Over the past 10 years I have held a number of commercial and finance roles in Novo Nordisk, building a deep understanding of patient and healthcare provider needs. The past two years, I have in particular been focussed on how patients and HCPs interact within the digital health industry.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Liva?
Liva has tremendous potential to revolutionise the healthcare industry. Liva also has an impressive team of senior healthcare leaders so I'm thrilled to work together with the team and drive real change for real people who live with chronic conditions. We are at an important time in our trajectory where the business, our product, and customer focus are all converging and demonstrating great traction.
What do you think made you a successful candidate for your new role at Liva?
I bring a combination of traditional experience from the pharmaceutical industry as well as an understanding of how technology can influence, accelerate and improve patient outcomes. Fundamentally, that's what we are looking to do – improve patients’ lives.
What have you learned about yourself from your previous roles at Novo Nordisk?
During my time in Novo Nordisk, a key revelation for me was that I really find purpose in doing something to improve the lives of people suffering from chronic diseases. I didn’t know much about healthcare and pharma when I first started working in Novo, but over the years it has become clear to me that I should always look at how what I do can make a meaningful difference to other people.
What are your passions outside of work?
I am first and foremost a family man. I spend most of my time with my family and in particular my two lovely kids. I also love going for runs, snowboarding, perfecting my bread-baking techniques and cooking a nice meal for friends and family.
What would you consider your greatest achievement to date?
Professionally, one of the achievements I’m most proud of during my time in Novo Nordisk was driving the establishment of a commercially focused digital development centre. Of course, generating key partnership contracts comes in at a close second.
