Commercial Lead - London (Hybrid)

Our client is an exciting company making waves in the soilless agriculture space. Using DNA sequencing, this company is helping leading hydroponic growers to monitor and perfect their microbial communities. Growers have been trying to do this for years but have been failed by poor products on the market. This company is here to change that.

They are looking for a strategic-minded Commercial Lead to work closely with the CEO, Head of Operations and the other team members to help drive the commercialisation of their first microbial products. They are close to a UK launch, with further launches planned in the US and Europe.

This will be the first commercial hire, so the successful candidate will certainly be getting their hands dirty, playing a pivotal role in developing new and existing relationships with clients, establishing strategic partnerships and growing their strategic pipeline.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive commercial strategies to promote our microbial products, including determining product pricing and positioning.
  • Build on relationships with existing customers, transitioning them from participating in our monitoring service to trialling and purchasing our microbial products.
  • Identify and onboard new customers for our monitoring service, as we expand this internationally and to new crop types.
  • Develop and negotiate commercial terms with growers for our products and services.
  • Take the lead on conversations with new and existing commercial collaborators. This will include working on tailored joint projects through JDAs and JRAs.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, pricing agreements, and distribution partnerships to optimize profitability and market access.
  • Lead market research efforts to assess market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.
  • Incorporate findings into product development and marketing strategies.
  • Assisting with product launches and marketing, including participation in conferences.

Requirements:

  • Eagerness to push yourself and expand your abilities, both professionally and personally.
  • A love for working in a high-speed, low-control environment where you have high ownership.
  • Experience relevant to the role, with a proven track record of 5+ years in commercial roles in a relevant industry (e.g. Agtech or Biotech). Ideally, experience with from-scratch product commercialization and market development.
  • Willingness to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers and non-commercial team members. Strong commercial negotiation experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, but a willingness to be hands on and personally execute.
  • Solid financial skills, including financial reporting abilities.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally as needed.
