Market Access Manager - England (12-Month FTC)
Location: Field-based, can live anywhere in UK with easy access for national travel
Shape Access for a Strategic Neurology Launch
We're partnering with a global pharmaceutical company preparing to launch a reformulated treatment in the neurology space. This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for a Market Access professional who thrives on autonomy, strategic thinking, and navigating the evolving NHS ecosystem.
The product is based on a well-established molecule delivered in a new format-offering renewed clinical value in a high-need area. Because of its established status, there will be no NICE Technology Appraisal, making local access strategy absolutely critical.
You'll report into the Head of Market Access, who will lead the overarching strategy. This role will focus on execution and engagement at the ICB level, with the opportunity to contribute to broader UK access planning.
Key Challenges
- No NICE TA: As an established molecule in a new formulation, there is no national mandate-access must be secured ICB by ICB.
- ICB Knowledge Gaps: Many ICBs lack up-to-date neurology expertise-education and value communication are critical.
- No Pre-set Budgets: You'll need to demonstrate local cost-effectiveness and budget impact using tailored models.
- Diverse ICB Priorities: Some are clinically driven, others budget-focused-requires a tailored, strategic approach.
- Strategic NHS Insight: This isn't just implementation-it's about understanding where the NHS is going and aligning access plans accordingly.
What You'll Be Doing
- Mapping and profiling key ICB systems and stakeholders.
- Prioritising target regions and adapting strategy based on evolving access dynamics.
- Engaging with a range of decision-makers across systems-clinical, financial, and commissioning.
- Collaborating closely with Medical and Sales to align on value messaging and clinical positioning.
- Driving formulary inclusion and access strategy from initiation in secondary care to transfer into primary care.
- Reporting into and working closely with the Head of Market Access to align execution with national strategy.
Devolved Nations Strategy
The initial priority will be leading access across England, in time you'll also have the opportunity to:
- Shape launch plans for the devolved nations (Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)
- Contribute to HTA strategy and submissions
- Influence regional access pathways and stakeholder engagement plans
This adds a broader strategic dimension to the role-ideal for someone looking to expand their influence across the UK market.
What We're Looking For
- Proven success in gaining formulary inclusions at CCG or ICB level.
- Experience with specialty products-neurology experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of NHS structures, pricing, and reimbursement.
- Ability to "join the dots" between clinical value and commercial strategy.
- Resilient, strategic, and confident in navigating ambiguity and complexity.
Why This Role?
This is a chance to lead access strategy for a transformative treatment in a space that's been underserved for years. If you're looking for a challenge that will stretch your skills, expand your influence, and make a real difference in patient care, we want to hear from you.
